Navigating autoimmune disease has been a massive struggle in my life and sent me into a pit of despair. When your body feels out of control, you feel like you’re losing your mind, and feelings of hopelessness start to take ahold, it feels like there will never be a light at the end of the tunnel. This pit is where I found and fell in love with functional medicine.
Functional medicine views the body as an interconnected system where physical, mental, emotional, and environmental factors all play a role in overall health. It helps to address imbalances in the gut microbiome, nutritional deficiencies, and how chronic stress can lead to mood swings, anxiety, and depression. It’s what helped me find an explanation for my symptoms and address the root causes that were taking over my life.
Through this lens, we can incorporate a holistic approach that aims to identify and address how your physical health may be contributing to mental health challenges and focus on specific goals to improve performance in areas such as health, career, relationships, or overall personal development.
